BBRAeNEWS No.412 - Caught Red Handed by The Law.

Some illegal fishermen were there and the MPK enforcement officers were there too. So too were some illegal motorcyclists who were also caught.

BBRAeNEWS No.382 - The unseen hand

Dear Residents,

We would like to highlight some of the pains involved to keep our neighbourhood clean. Many residents and visitors take cleanliness for granted and think that rubbish thrown, will disappear in the drains and lakes or evaporate.

This is of course not the case. We would like to highlight the cleaning up of our drains and roads by the developer's Township Team. Led by Mr Ng, his team has taken a lot of effort to clean the mess in our township. In the future, it is hoped that we can stop littering and not take cleanliness in our own neighbourhood for granted.

Some of painstaking efforts done by Township within the last month include:

Sweeping of rubbish along Jalan Langat, main entrance to Botanic

Clearing of rubbish in the shared monsoon drain along Persiaran Casuarina

Clearing of rubbish at the monsoon drain near Casuarina Apartments

Cleaning of the drain at the Kesas highway

BBRAeNEWS No.381 - Temporary wall erected at Botanic Park

Dear Residents,

A Jenaris resident has brought to the attention the erecting of a temporary wall opposite the Tai Chi course, across the bridge where residents have previously complaint about sand and mud that seeps onto the jogging track after a downpour.

The wall which was constructed by MPK is to prevent such soil erosion spilling onto the jogging track. While this is a good step by MPK to further improve our park facilities, it is with hope that a permanent solution can be found to curb soil erosion.

This can be in the form of a proper drainage system or proper soil treatment. BBRA hopes that MPK will look into finding a permanent solution in the near future.

BBRAeNEWS No.380 - Tzu Chi Recycling Activity

Dear Residents,

On every 1st Thursday of the month, the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia (Klang) will organise a recycling for charity event from 7pm to 9pm the field between Kiara 2 & Jenaris 1. That means the first event this month will be this coming Thursday, 7th of April 2011.

BBRAeNEWS No.376 - In relation to eNews No.374

Dear Residents,

Hope the New Year brings good fortunes to us all especially in terms of welfare, security, landscape, and commercial realisation of our Botanic commercial area.

On that note, on behalf of BBRA we believe that credit must be given to the new Township Manager who has taken the first step towards improving our township. In particular were the issues that were highlighted by our resident from Jenaris regarding the overgrown grass, unkempt state of Persiaran Botanic, and rubbish being dumped indiscriminately at a pothole at Jenaris and the charity recycling bins. (The last known issue was when unknown and uncivilised people dump soil rubbish and a sofa set!)

As at yesterday evening, 5th January 2011, it is good to note that grass along Persiaran Botanic was being cut and weeds were being pulled out. Also, the recycling bins have been cleared and in all honestly, we hope that the supplier of those bins will move them to another location where some form of check and balance can occur.

However, still pending is the status of the pothole at Jenaris, which we hope the Township Manager can look into. And the continued maintenance of the park and the landscaping, replacement of missing drain covers since 2007 at various phases, and removal of illegal buntings/stickers/signboards that keep appearing at our lamp post, street signs, etc.

BBRAeNEWS No.374 - Benefit of the doubt

Dear residents,

For the benefit of all residents, we would like to announce the appointment of a new township manager for the developer, Mr Ng. We hope that Mr Ng has the best interest of the Botanic community at heart and we wish him all the best in his duties.

Anyway, prior to a meeting by residents with TMO, some questions were posed to BBRA on the maintenance of the Botanic pond, rubbish being thrown at the lake as well as at the recycling bins (for charity) and the uncut grass along Persiaran Botanic.

These questions were later forwarded and discussed with TMO, to which Mr Ng replied in e-mail as per below dated December 14, 2010:

1) We are aware of the overgrown grass along pesiaran botanik and we intend to cut the grass there. We intend to erect road signages along the same road.  We will do the maintenance and clean up for handing over to the authority.

2) We had informed the relevant authorities to clear the rubbish and fill  the hole. We will monitor the situation. However, we need the residence assistance not to throw rubbish into the hole. (In reference to throwing of rubbish into a hole at Jenaris)

3) We will call the proprietor of the recycling bins to clear the recycle materials. Authorities will remove the rubbish. Again, we ask the residences for assistance not to throw the rubbish and hope that the recycling bins proprietor or the authorities to remove them. The recycling bins are for charitable cause and having them around is beneficial to all of us.

As you are aware. maintaining the township is a diificult but it can be achieved with the assistance from the residences. We too want this township to be a testimony for others. Please rest assured that we will do everything within our capabilities to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one.

For the benefit of all the residents, we let you decide when and if ever, the above mentioned will be acted upon. Especially for the uncut grass along Persiaran Botanic and other areas of our beautiful garden.

We are pleased to announce that Mr Gan Chee Choy of Indah Water Konsortium has replied BBRA with a planned dialog session together with the developer on the queries sent by Bandar Botanic residents on faulty vacuum toilet pump.

The dialog session will be held at the Developer's Bandar Botanic Office, sometime in early 2011. Expected attendees include SPAN Wilayah Tengah, Agenci Perakuan IWK, Harum Intisari, Envitech Sdn Bhd, BBRA, and "affected parties".

If any resident is among the "affected parties" of such faulty toilet pumps, please do not hesitate to contact BBRA committee members so that you may be allowed to sit in for the dialog session.

BBRAeNEWS No.369 - A good Sunday

We would like to share a contribution by our fellow Bandar Botanic resident Andrew Sum, on his experience and reflection of a "Good Sunday" at the Central Park.

I have not been to the Bandar Botanical Lake for a walk for a long time due to osteoarthritis. However this Sunday, 31^st Oct, I went for a slow walk in the late afternoon and was happy to note that the Lake region especially towards Kiara/Didara/Bongor region is now gaining popularity amongst visitors from other areas of Klang and Selangor, as I have notice not less than 3 Muslim weddings couples taking photographs there by the lake side. One was with the Royal Malaysian Navy I think, judging by the white uniform the bridegroom wore.

Add to this, there is a bonus of one large group of visitors & boys from the Indian Christian DESTINY STARTING POINT, a juvenile home for boys, having their group photographs taken there. I joined in to the group to have a picture taken and they happily obliged.

A chat with the Home Coordinator and was told that theirs is a juvenile home for boys and their objective are ‘Rescue, Restore, Reconcile and Reform’. BBRAeNEWS No.346 - Huge Soldier Ant Nests

Dear residents,

Beware – huge soldier ants nests.

Location – Jasmin field near Botanic Multi Purpose Hall.

Exact Location – Base of tree and on field itself.

Please take note that at the Jasmin region, there is a field near the Botanic Multi-Purpose hall, where a tree was recently struck by lightning or so it appeared.

The true reason is that the tree was infected with soldier ants which have built their nest there at the bottom of the tree. The soldier ants have already eaten the central core of the tree from bottom to top, leaving only the bark of the tree to supply food and water to the leaves.

During a thunder storm, the tree was so fragile that, because it was already hollow, it toppled.

Also, please be aware that at the base of the tree is a huge soldier ants’ nest. The surrounding fields are also becoming a soldier ants’ field because if one is to ‘scrub’ his shoes against the grass, all the soldiers ants would suddenly appears from the ground itself. Very often, practitioners who were going through their routine of Chi Gong nearby complaints of soldiers’ ants nests on the grounds.

BBRAeNEWS No.345 - Our deteriorating pond

Dear residents,

Were we all fooled into believing that the beautiful lake with fountains and gazebos is actually a retention pond? Do we know that it has deteriorated to a point where fishes die, the water stinks, and it might end up as a smelly sewage pond?

Many residents have complaint to the authorities and the developer who promised to maintain this pond of ours. Yet, they have today failed to honour their word! They have failed to live up to their promise.

We need a sustainable environment, and we need your support in driving this message to the TMO that is ignoring us!

Below is an open letter by a BBRA member who had to bear with the stench of rotting fishes during a usual morning walk!

"This morning I went for a walk and notice and counted not less than 10 dead fishes about 6-8 inches long in the area of Kiara and jenaris lake region. Some of the dead fishes are near the lake outlets at the Kiara end, towards the new Hospital region.

Obviously this is due to the deteriorating condition of the pond/lake.

My observation is that when when dead fishes appears in the Kiara & Jenaris region, with the jenaris Pump fountain already breakdown for a long, long time and the area from jenaris to Angsana waters do not circulates, dont you think more dead fishes will appears sooner or later?

I do not know what is TMO doing nowadays and they doesnt seem to bother at all over the contamination of the waters.

Oil patches appears also at the Angsana outlet lake end as well as other regions. There is no maintenance at all."

BBRAeNEWS No.343 - Yet another case of vandalism

Dear Residents,

There has been another case of illegal chopping of a tree in our park, and this time a very large tree has been sacrificed for the sake of Feng Shui. The picture (left) shows the stump of what used to be a large tree that is situated behind the Angsana Semi-D units.

On top of the illegal tree cutting, the owner has also dumped construction waste (picture below) behind his house. We hope that he clears his rubbish as soon as possible and be responsible enough to replace the tree with another one, as every tree in our community has been paid for by our over-priced property units.


We strongly urge the authorities, MPK and the developer to lodge an official complaint and file for appropriate compensation immediately.

BBRAeNEWS No.342 - Time and Tide Waits For No One.

On this day the early folks of Bandar Botanic woke up to a shocking truth...that part of the walkways were flooded, the children's playgrounds were all flooded, the bridges were flooded, the stationary swans half submerged, backyards toilet bowls of residents houses flooded caused by underground moonsoon drains overcapacity (the underground system that was build by the developer). It looks like the movie '2012 end of the world' had come early.

The only residents who slept sounding is those who did the land grab behind their backyard, where the flood water was prevented from advancing. They had the last laughs... ha ha ha !

The obvious lesson to learn here is that all residents must take precautions against the deterioration of the Retention Lake, and its surrounding more seriously. Already there are more damages done by oursiders to our beautiful lake and garden.

But the situation points more clearly to the developer's problem that they failed to give proper maintenance and check to the drainage systems early attention.... Or did they failed to foresee such catastrophy? The entire Angsana precinct I think is lower than Kiara and Jenaris, and this includes the very Lake itself.

To us the residents, our ignorance are akin to playing the violin while Rome burns.

I have taken the opportunity to capture some pictures. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what will a few pictures say? I hope these pictures will wake us all up to the reality. Go for change.

BBRAeNEWS No.341 - Angsana really needs a Fountain.

Angsana Really Needs A Fountain!

Dear Mr Goo,
Please consider Angsana Residents' request for a Fountain as the end of the Retention Lake is at a stand-still and slugs are forming. Worst of all, last sunday I have sighted oil patches flowing out from the pipe holes opening at the end of the lake. While I believe this discharging of oil and affluents from the neighbouring shoplots have had been dealth with last year, it seems that your enforcement did not follow up.

Oil patches and oil spills will kill off all the fishes there, including any living micro-organism which the fishes feeds upon. Eventually this will spread to the other parts of the Retention Lake, and the whole lake will be affected. This Retention Lake will eventually become a 'stinking sausage' if no one looks after it properly. At the moment, what TMO has done is really insufficient.

I believe, as head of TMO, you should reach out to the people of Bandar Botanic by having interactive forums and going down to the ground site personally to see what should be done.

I, and as well as the residents, would be most and deeply appreciated if TMO would organize a Forum between TMO-All Residents to discuss constructive issues pertaining to the Retention Lake, the present lake condition - which a lot of residents are not happy about.

Lets cooperate and make this garden a decent green lung beautiful urban park.

I hope you will reflect on what I have written and work to bring back the hope of crystal clear waters that was Once Upon A Time Ago!
