BBRAeNEWS No.309 - Are these Childrens Yours?

Dear Residents,
Are These Childrens Yours?
Day 25th Feb,2010, Time: 6.00pm evening. Location: Retention Lake area at Angsana Precint.
Are these childrens fishing at the retention lake yours? Or do they belong to somebody else, from outside Bandar Botanic ? Do they know better then to fish in an area under fishing restriction? Those caught fishing would have their fishing rods and lines confiscated and jail for a day. If these childrens belong to... you, kindly teach them not to fish as it is against the law. These children were told not to fish by BBRA Blog Administrator. They dispersed after 15 minutes later. These childrens were lucky that the MPK Enforcing Officers and the Police were not around.

BBRAeNEWS No.304 - Vandalism to Floodlights

Dear Residents,
Here is a story on vandalism to floodlights in SS18 and other areas in Subang Jaya, as published in the New Straits Times on 18th Feb,2010 and this is in a way no less parallel to the notorious reputation of attempted vandalism done at the Basketball Courts Lightings in Central Zone, Bandar Botanic under Gamuda-TMO, done by negative parties.
-Andrew Sum

It is believed that youngsters try to o
verwrite the floodlights’ timer by
meddling with the wring.
The New Straits Times dated 18th February,2010
Council may remove floodlights
By Nuradzimmah Daim

SUBANG JAYA: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) may remove the floodlights at the SS18 futsal court if they continue to be vandalised.
The council is urging residents to share the responsibility of curbing vandalism at the futsal court which is popular with
youngsters.MPSJ's assistant director for public relations Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said it cost RM5,000 to repair the floodlights. It is believed that some youngsters had broken the lock on the control box and meddled with the wiring so that the lights would be operational longer.
The floodlights are controlled by a timer and would turn off at 10pm."We urge the residents to report to the council if they see people vandalising the floodlights. If not, we may soon have to remove the floodlights and the residents would not be able to use the futsal court and other recreational facilities at the park at night," Azfarizal said."There have been other vandalism acts such as scribbling, painting and damaging of public amenities at recreational parks or playgrounds in the municipality but they are not as serious or as costly as the problem with the floodlights."According to Azfarizal, the floodlights were installed a few years back in an initiative by former Subang Jaya state assemblyman Lee Hwa Beng and the council had continued to maintain them. He said last year alone, the council had repaired the floodlights several times. The last time the lights was repaired was last October and they were damaged again the next day. Some SS18 residents who attended a recent Subang Jaya residents' association meeting to discuss the matter had said they were willing to share the responsibility of curbing vandalism. "They are willing to share the responsibility so that their children would be able to use the facility at night as it is hot to play futsal during the day," said association chairman A. S. Gill.Gill urged parents to advise their children not to vandalise the facilities."There were some children who wanted to play futsal longer and opened the control box to try to adjust the timer. As a result, the control box was damaged. So the parents have to be responsible and make sure that their children do not vandalise the facilities," he said.Under the council's vandalism bylaw, a culprit can be fined up to RM2,000 or face up to a year's jail, or both, if found guilty.

BBRAeNEWS No.301 - Meaningful Action.

Dear Residents,

300 Meaningful Articles.
-Andrew Sum

Today we commemorate the realization of 300 articles by BBRA. The original purpose of the BBRA Blog is to bring hope back to the residents and to restore their confidence. Perhaps we have achieved and perhaps we have not – we need your feedbacks, we need your answers.

The BBRA Blog was created by the 2nd President of BBRA namely Pastor John Lim and his team, in a sincere hope of imparting valuable information pertaining to the various myriads of problems faced by the Bandar Botanic residents from their dreams of a gated community, thefts, home security to environmental degradation, prevention or preservation of the ecology. A spectrum of a variety of articles were introduced by this closely knitted group of brothers, which have transcended race and religion, comprising of the president, vice president and committee members, to bring back the vibrant colors of rainbows to BBRA. This is being further boasted by the revival and colorful productions of the BBRA magazines called the BBRA Warta.

In the year 2010, we hope you will join us and help us together to further bring about even much more improvements to this good land called Bandar Botanic, not for us, but for our children and grand children, from whom they have temporary loan this garden to us. Let us not forsake them – the inhabitants of the future.

BBRAeNEWS No.297 - Life Like That.

Life Like That - Slam Dunk Anyone?
-Andrew Sum
A lone basketball player resting at the basketball court, after a game.
Slam Dunk centers around Hanamichi Sakuragi,
Haruko Akagi, who recognizes Hanamichi's athleticism, introduces him to the Shohoku basketball team. Hanamichi was reluctant to join the team at first because he had no previous background in any sports and thought that basketball was a game for losers Sakuragi, despite his immaturity and hot temper, proves to be a natural athlete with potential and joins the team in order to impress Haruko and prove that he is worthy of her.. Hisashi Mitsui, an ex-junior high school, and Ryota Miyagi , a short but fast player, both also rejoin the team and together these four struggle to complete team captain Takenori Akagi's dream of making Shohoku the national champion.
Together, these misfits gain publicity and the once little known Shohoku basketball team becomes an all-star contender in Japan.

BBRAeNEWS No.296 - Slam Dunk ?

Practice makes perfect in the Basketball Court in Bandar Botanic.

(Slam Dunk centers around Hanamichi Sakuragi, who starts as a delinquent outcast, becoming the leader of a gang. Hanamichi, being very unpopular with girls, has been rejected by them fifty times. Yet, he finds out that Haruko Akagi is the girl of his dreams, and is happy when she's not scared of him like all the other girls he has asked out.
