Diary Of a Resident
Just imagine how lucky we are.
Just a couple of days ago, I happened to be in Kuala Lumpur, in a café, and seated in front of me are five deaf but young bright and full of energy and life Chinese Malaysian teenagers communicating in excellent sign language. I was so impressed by their energy and determination in life to move forward, in spite of their handicap. On the other hand, I looked around at the other normal citizens and they seem to be all day dreaming and sleepy, and with no soul to move.
On this note, I just ponder how lucky we are that we are gifted by God but are not using fully what we are being endowed with. These five handicap teenagers would make an excellent team of hard working workers in any company.
What is a sign language? A sign language is a language, which instead of acoustically conveyed sound patters, uses visually transmitted sign patterns to convey meaning – like combining hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body and facial expressions to fluidly express a speaker’s thoughts.
The words in sign languages are accompanied by dynamic hand and body motion. This motion not only makes the experience more memorable, they can communicate successfully with those around them. This sense of empowerment significantly contributes to their happiness and allowing more time for positive interaction. Sign languages commonly develop in deaf communities.
Just ponder over this !

I am always fascinated by these people. They somehow leave in a world of their own.
Yes, we are lucky......but still we need to help whenever we can.
Hopefully we can do this for BB as well. Care for each other.
