BBRAeNEWS No.316 - Qigong Anyone?

Dear residents,
Qigong
-Andrew Sum

Every Sunday morning, we can see a group of residents of Bandar Botanic, near the town hall area, wriggling, and moving in a twist or snake-like or wormlike fashion. It is a contorted motion as if they are writhing in discomfort or as if a child is trying to free himself from somebody’s embrace. Don’t be mistaken for anything beyond our imagination.
This is Qigong – the technique of holistic art of healing.

Over 5000 years ago, the ancient Chinese discovered and developed techniques of training individuals to make self-adjustments in living habits, mind and body movements, life styles, to attain the general goal of a healthy and happy life, including extension of the life span. The benefits of these exercise includes rejuvenation and Qi healing, increased strength, vigor and energy. It is also relaxed, comfortable and evokes happiness. Student feels both physically and mentally regenerated after practiced. The energy level is improved, body illness is contained and it relieves stress, achieves happiness and extends life expectancy. Practitioners becomes more youthful in appearance and young at heart, decrease in age spots and dark skin pigmentation, firming of skin and muscle tone, rapid disappearance of excess fat around the waist and abdomen and darkening of grey hair. It is an excellent response to treatment of chronic diseases.

Is this a class or just a private group of people practicing qigong? If it's a class, may I know how much is the fees?

Dear Mr Raymond,
The class is open to the public and anyone interested can join. I have spoken to the lady instructor, usually in red T-shirt. You can meet her at the site at about 7.00am every Sunday and she will explain to you. Every sunday, there are lots of residents there to ask questions from her, like how to join, how much the fee, date and time, etc.
It seems that you have first to go for 2 or 3 sessions under the Master Sifu in Kuala Lumpur, who will use his qigong energy to 'break through' your body stagnant energy "chi" which are initially in disharmony and not circulating well. After that, once your body's energy flow is corrected, you can then follow their sunday practices in Bandar Botanic, under another instructor.
I have seen young boys and girls, elderly men and women practising there, and they do really sweat prufusely after a few rounds. I do not want to hint on the fee involved, but would suggest you go and find out yourself this sunday morning. Good health to you and regards,
