CASE NO.2

cc: BBRA President- Mr John Lim

Tuan,

Re: Pilferage at its worst
---------------------------------------
This is to inform you that while I went for a morning walk at 0700 hours today, around the Central Lake, I notice one piece of 8' x 5' construction material lying at the side of the Walk Way opposite the Exercise Par Course near Phase 4. (As the structure is blue in color, I thought it was from the Exercise Par Course).
I went to report this matter to the Kawalan Keselamatan Sentral and took one of the guard in my car, as witness, to have a look. He then direct me to the Constructions Site at Phase Angsana where they are building the new Semi-D. The said piece of construction structure is stolen from the Construction Site. The thief probably abandon it half-way some 3 km away from the Site where it was stolen when he notice some security petrolling around the lake.

I am sending this message to you and to others so that all are aware of what is going on in our garden. Now they steal from your Construction Site. The next day they might steal from the Residents.

If the residents catch any of these thieves, No Violence will be used and the residents will immediately hand over the thief or thieves to the Police.. This is also a warning to all thieves. Beware.

Dear Andrew,
It will be more proper for the resident to spend some time and make a police report. If more residents can come forward and make the police reports, there will be a record to be based on when BBRA put forward the matter to higher authorities. We can continue to cry wolf but as much as Muhd Hijaz and his men wants to enforce, they have their limitations, having to cover so large an area (Klang). I opine that the Police have the manpower to better enforce the rule.

Regards Ben

Good job, this morning at around 8.00 am I was at the Central Park as usual jogging and this motorcyclist got the cheek to scold fellow joggers and I shouted at him to stop but he never stop cos he know we were after him.We shall put a stop to this, where are the barriers at all the exist points to hinder these riders????

Hi Lee,
A thousand thanks to you.Luckly you acknowledge and reply to my email...or else no one would have believe me and perhaps say that I made up stories. Now, huh... I have concrete proof to tell the residents that this story is genuine.Dear Lee, I have taken the liberty to post your comments into the BBRA Blog No.98, which I hope you do not mind. Although I have not witness the whole thing as I was addressing another issue under Case No.2 (pilferage in BBRA blog No.98) nearby with a KKS security guard, some jogger residents reported to me. I decide to make a complain in writing to the MPK. We residents CANNOT keep quiet, because it may happen again. Who knows. And most important..I want to let the residents know what happened when outssiders come in and dont show respect.

Dear RA,

Thank you for highlighting a long standing issue of illegal racing (motorbikes) at our jogging track. This activity has been going on for a long time now and since they are not checked, they are getting bolder.

We should have proper hoarding or barricades at key locations to deter motorbikes from entering the park. If we have money we should have speed bumps too.

On the separate matter of construction worker over at Semi-D houses who are stealing public property, I suggest a police report be made against the developer for negligence and bringing in thieves to our neighborhood.

Why skip from one problem to the next without solving earlier problem? What happened to the Jenaris kindergarten and child care centers? Why are the unlicensed centers continued to be allowed to operate? Who is the BBRA member that so nicely asked that the illegal centers be allowed to operate until the current term finish, for the sake of the children? What a load of rubbish! I am a member of BBRA and a resident of Jenaris and I am being polluted by the loud voices coming form these centers. Can the nice BBRA member have a thought for me?

If you take up an issue, please do it without fear or favour and definitely no sentiments. I see a lot of talk, good intentions and well meaning words BUT its mostly talk and no action. Either you walk the talk or you stop the talk.

Then you have the gentleman who seemed so energetic, raise many problems, do a bit of work and tell the whole community how much he has done. He wants to move on but continue to stay on. We must realise that true rewards come form appreciation and praise from your peers or others. No self exclaimation please.

Direct the complains to the proper and correct forum to have any chance of the complains being attended to. Simply crying out in the blog will probably lead you no where except invite more howling from present company.

Hi, I am Mr. Louis Looi a resident in Jenaris and a member of BBRA.

I am encouraged by the many positive postings and comments in the blog, though a bit sadden by some negative and cruel remarks by fellow residents. I feel that it is alright to post negative elements so long as nothing is personal in nature and it does not attack and hurt any feeling. The freedom to express should be accompany with responsibilities and sensitivities, least we create an atmosphere of distrust and contempt.

To all my fellow residents, I appeal for some calm and decency in our quest to improve the overall goodness of our neighborhood. There will be many things to resolve but if we maintain our humility, we will be there, eventually. What is the rush?

Charlie,
My name is Andrew Sum and I am a Blog Administer for the BBRA blog. I think some of the issues you are referring to is to me. What have you against me? My duty and function as a blog administer is to post as MANY articles as possible but NOT to act on it. Only the Committee Members and the Presidents take up the issues and acts on it. That’s why the BBRA have committee members for every Precincts. For all Committee Members meetings, I am not called to attend. I am only invited as a GUEST to attend one or two. Please be clear. I am not even in the Board of Committee Members of the BBRA. Even in the Sub-Security meeting, I was invited only as a GUEST.

I have promised the President Mr John Lim that I will continue to help him in the blog until the AGM meeting and then I will move on. I have to honor my word to the President and cannot simply stop half-way. It would be rude. I am supposed to leave on the 5th April, but then the AGM is being postponed. Yes, after your angry comment, I will definitely move on, but not after the AGM on the 19th April, after the President’s term. Another thing is that I did not in the first place ask for this job. Your Presidents ask me to help many, many times. I refused but later I accepted on a temporary basis. YOU should offer your service as a Bloc Administer and to discover how difficult it is when faced with half the Committee members who are ‘silent’. Why not accept the job as Bloc Administer after when I moved on?

Firstly, I have complained and written direct to the President and cc to ALL the Committee members seeking for their active role and help in contributing to the blog. Only A FEW responded. I do not like to bring this matter out into the open again as I know it is not good. It is like washing dirty linen in public.

Regarding the Kindergartens, this issue has been going on for a long time. If you find any disapproval in some of the comments and opinions, you should have VOICED UP long time ago. Why only now?

Regarding the issues of Case 1 (Illegal Racing) and Case 2(Pilferage), I did it as a Resident and not as a Blog Administer. But since I AM a Blog Administer, I find it convenient to post it anytime into the blog for the residents to read.

Finally, I can tell you rightly and loudly that I Andrew Sum DO NOT SEEK ANY REWARDS AND PRAISE for the work that I have done to Up-lift this BBRA Blog. Whatever work I do, I do it whole- heartedly and with 100 percent dedication and with professionalism OR I don’t accept the work at all.

But I want the residents to know what I have done. Is there any shame NOT to hide this? After all, I am proud of what I have done. I have done nothing wrong and I can rightly say that I can lift my head up high and walk tall. My family, children and grand children will be proud of my work. That is all the rewards that I seek.

Dear all residents,
Please address all your articles direct to The President Mr John Lim. I dont want Committee Members & residents to start asking who is the spokeman for BBRA. The President or the Blog Administrator.

Dear Friends,

Regarding the un-license kindergardens in Jenaris, many letters and emails have been sent to MPK. They have acknowledged them and had checked and issued warning letters/summon. I have personally brought the protest letters to the Secretary of MPK and mentioned in our meeting with them on 28 March. Everyone had done their part and now MPK has to do theirs. Let's also give them some time. Afterall, this issue only surface early last month.

With regards to the motorists endangering the jogging tracks, we have brought it up to the MPK/TMO/Police. We have also gone to the frequently used entrance at the phase 9 to show the tire tracks left behind by the motorists. We asked TMO to provide some blockage/hoard to prevent motorists from coming in. It is in their hands. If at all for public safety it is in the law for MPK to provide budget to build fencing, we will also pressure MPK to do so. Again, this issue is only discussed recently, please allow time for implementation.

Basically, at this juncture without the blocking from the 2 entrance, the other way to stop motorists is Sentral. The guards can patrol there with a guided time-table. As you know, Sentral refused to sent the draft agreement with BBRA sub-com has discussed with them many times. The committee has not discussed this as we are going for the AGM and thus our agenda is do a good housing keeping to hand-over.

Andrew is a very helpful to assist in the blog. Without him, BBRA would be very handicap, me the most. And blogs being a non-face-to-face interaction, sometime information disseminated may have many interpretations. But we try our best to because this public forum is very needed. I may suggest to the new com to give an utmost attention to the blog/website.

I have enjoyed reading the comments and welcome residents continue engaging the committee. Hey, because of BBRA blog, I just purchased a more powerful laptop that can help me keep tab of things. And I am enjoying thus far.

Dear BB residents,

I am fully in agreement with Mr. Louis Looi's comments.

Instead of personal attacks, we should get together our neighborhood to strengthen our community in order to face the challenges around Bandar Botanic.

I would suggest that every phase to organise biannual potluck or similar gatherings first. Then from their we can work for the BB community.

I just want to highlight the following points which will helpful in understanding the slow response from the relevant authorities:

1. I have understand from MPK source that they have badget constrain to fullfill all our requested actions especially in the BB park.

2. Also inside local authority, I guess, there are followers of all political parties exist. Since our state goverment was changed last year, the elements from previous adminitration could be a stumbling block for addressing our issues relevant to them.

3. Kawalan Sentral have no authority inside the BB park. The security in the park is under the preview of local authority.

Many BBRA bloggers are innocent. As lay persons, they have right to hightlight the subject matter through the BBRA blog. But all of us need to be patient and together to achieve the common objectives.

Folks,
Be cool and be realistic when we express our issues/views in the blog.

Have a nice weekend.

As far as I am concern, the blog administrator Andrew, has been doing a good job in trying to keep all of us, the residents updated with the situation and issues of Bandar Botanic. I guess most of us will not know what are the happenings around Bandar Botanic if Andrew did not spend his time posting all this information. There should be some credit given to him.

I tend to agree with Mr. Louis and Mr. Jascobs. Too many people are using this blog as a personal attack machine to individuals, where eventually most of the residents being accused are actually innocent.

(By the way, just pointing out something. If you want to resign, you also have to give notice, a 1 month or 2 months notice period. Until the last day, you still need to perform your job as responsible as possible. So what is the cried out all about. I guess this again is a personal attack towards the blog administrator.)

Residents should take more initiative to help one another, directly or indirectly.

Again, I wish all residents would just open up their mind and start to interact and work together. We do not need everybody to contribute 100% of their time but maybe 1% from each resident, and with the number of residents that we have, I think it is sufficient to make Bandar Botanic a better place to stay.

Let's all start a new.

Dear Andrew,
Why such a reaction to an advise to a gentleman that true rewards come from appreciation and praise from peers and others.
I will let others decide if I have been critical in an impolite or bad manner.
Meanwhile my sympathies to the several committee members who have received your critical comments over the past 3 months. May be your comments is different than mine?
As to the child care centers, do not think for a minute that I have not raise the issue to MPK earlier. I have raise the matter months ahead, even before BBRCC and in case you want to know, BBRA was the last to raise it but I am not critical because it will take joint efforts to drive the message through. What I asked for was consistency rather then seeing a nice BBRA member wavering.

Last but not least, I meant no offence or malice to you or BBRA and I will not bother you all again in this blog.

BBRA KLANG 3 said...

Hi Charlie,

No names mentions, whether the BBRA likes it or not, it is my way of telling BBRA to buck-up or loose out to others and my way of signaling John to be prepared well in advance to recruit new bloc administer. As you have said BBRA was the last to raise many issues. The Committee members must learn to accept criticism and change. Yes, change they must and I consider mine positive criticism aim at brainstorming them out into the open in order for them to show results. Maybe it is a bit harsh but that’s the way it is. BBRA have already lost out in many ways in the past for keeping things silent. Now the Presidents and some of the active Committee Members acknowledge and accept this. Assuming they have done a lot of good work to improve Bandar botanic, why keep silent. Why a splinter group should breaks off from BBRA? Until then, very few dare voice out and very few dare to dream.

My apologies for being rude to you and should be happy to know that you are in the forefront in the kindergartens issues. I consider you one of the brave ones who dare to voice out my follies to me in the name of progress. I salute you. My friend and good neighbor, do not shy away over a small insignificant skirmish like this. Great battles are ahead of us all and BBRA needs people like you who dare to talk and dare to dream to join us in the battle. In the coming future, there will be lots of new happenings and new surprises, both good and bad. The signs are there already. Don’t withdraw.

Unknown said...

Andrew,
Good for you. You have just shown maturity in the way you reply to Charlie's comments. When doing public work, one has to be prepared for such comments and take it with a pinch of salt so to speak. Always remember, respect is earned not demanded and in this case, you have earned it.
Keep it up and I am confident your outlook and approach as a blog administrator but more particularly as a person will be vastly improved.

Unknown said...

Yes it is good to see you come through this clean. A good writer must be able to take and withstand instigations and critics, however difficult it may be to swallow. I also salute the "silent" committee members who remained silent even after those "assaults" by Andrew. We all must accept that each and every individual works in his own way and Andrew, you must also respect that the silent committee members work in their own silent ways. All in all, I believe the comments in BBRA Blog have in a way encouraged more openness and dialogue between the residents and it is growing.

Unknown said...

Usually, it takes others to point out to us where we may have err and the feeling can be astonishing if we are not prepared to accept. Its a good feeling when one finally realised such comments were for the better good.

John Lim said...

I do wish that when we are engaged we we would reflect on the comments and see if the comments are just. Quitting and saying goodbye does not augur well for the association's effort to galvanize the community.

Let comments be free-flowing minus the unnecessary and uncalled for personal attack. If indeed there is a need to strongly engage an individual used civilized words. At the end of the day, it is a presentation of one's point of view and we want the other side to see our point of view.

I would like to ask for more staying power in the committee and the blog. Just because one idea/comment is not acceptable does not mean there no more ideas coming. The blog is a place for free flow of ideas and I will take the sensible one anytime even if it goes against mine.

Unknown said...

John & Andrew,
Please lead the way and stop referring to the other side. Once stopped, we will be talking as one. I agreed with you that the blog should be free flowing and the comments whether right, wrong, accurate or otherwise should be left for residents to determine.

Unknown said...

Dear Residents,
Can I suggest that every BBRA member and BB residents take some time off and go to the BB or BT II police stations to make a report on the many violations of the law in BB Central Park. Illegal bicycle racing, motocycles in the park, vandalism, drinking alcohol, etc. etc.

Lets make a record of sort, such as the most police reports made concerning a central park. If this is done, do you think the police or MPK enforcement officers can still take the matter calmly.

BBRA KLANG 3 said...

Selva,
Great moments will come and is coming. We will have our time with the police. Be patient. We are working on it all for the residients. I will announce later.

It is clear that our beautifully constructed police station is deemed as a pondok polis, thus unable to make police reports there. Hope residents are allowed to make reports at Bkt Tinggi II.

Residents must be reminded that in making police reports, however trivial the matter, is to assist in the tabilation of crime rates in the vicinity. It may be a hazzle and time consuming but as citizens, it is our obligations and we should not shy away.

Everybody must help to fight crime and lets start fromprevention.

Unknown said...

In getting things done, how about the suggestion raise by Andersson to distribute photocopies of the MPK letter regarding the 5 unlicensed kindergartens and child care centers. Such awareness especially among parents sending their children to these centers will undoubtably deter the parents.

BBRA KLANG 3 said...

For information, I noted that all the 5 illegal unlicensed kindergartens were not mentioned by the Chief of Police, at yesterday’s police meeting at the Klang Police HQ to participate during the second day of Police Community Program on the 25th April,09, except Kristal. The other 4 kindergartens in Kiara and Bidara are invited.

Unknown said...

Protocol dictates that you do not invite unlicensed, thus illegal establishments to official functions, what more a Police function. This is to avoid embarassments. Same applys to members only function.

I agree with Charlie on Anderson's suggestion to distribute copies of the MPK letters especially to parents whose children are attending these unlicensed child care centers. It is important to be seen we are serious in eradicating illegal activities in our neighborhood.

Halim88 said...

Andrew Sum said...
Selva, yes,yes and yes, your ideas and view is very good and excellent. All residents should be encourage to write direct to the police or MPK to voice their complaints, but please sent me a copy so that I may be able to post it into the blog for others who are less proficient in Bahasa Malaysia(like me) to follow as draft. The more we residents sent, the more I can post. Numbers counts and numbers do have a great influences.
At today's meeting with the Chief of Police, there are many others Residents Associations from Bukit Tinggi, Taman Sentosa. And all are aggresive and strong. At the moment, MPK for example do not have enough funds. But when the economy improves, and when they do, they will sure to divert their funds to the Associations which have submitted the most complaints. Bandar Botanic will lose out if the residents dont act but wait for the Committee to act. As a resident association, we cannot do alone. We need the full support and cooperations of the residents. Give us your support, give us your fullest of cooperations. Most important, dont wait for the association to approach you to do it. Sent your letters first. If every residents does that, then half the battle is won. The other half leave it to the Committee Members.Bandar Botanic residents must be aggresive and fast. We cannot have the residents of other neighbors associations to beat us to it. Governments funds are limited, or else they would have constructed barracades and gates at Phase 9 for us long ago.

Feel Good Feeling

When we achieved some thing, the best reward is not the compliments or praises but the feel good feeling that come with accomplishment. Thats what keep us going and I believe many residents and bloggers of late have been having this feel good feeling. It is evident in the many comments in the blog, the positives and yes, even the negatives.

You sure feel good when you are acquainted with new friends, new neighbors and new happenings. We should organise more pot-lucks as suggested by Jacob Mathews but open it to all residents, rather than phase by phase. Our central park is big enough to hold such gatherings and we can ask residents to contribute their home cookings or whatever.

While we concentrate to solve the many shortcomings and problems, we should not forget to have more community get together. Have fun, get to know your neighbors and fellow residents, community leaders, authorities, etc.

Ben Phang said...

Lets be realistic!

If the residents catch the thieves, no violence will be used. Are you joking? If residents ever catch the thieves or even vandals, I know for a fact that residents will beat the shit out of the thieves before handing them over to the Police.

Anyway even if the thieves were to read your assurance of no violence, they will instintively not believe you. They know they will be beated. Hentam cukup cukup lepas geram.
